Today was the day that Disney finally showed off the first film from their live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.
Premiering on Good Morning America, the short trailer doesn’t show much of the cast itself, but does provide an atmospheric look at the gorgeous castle most of the movie will take place in. Fans of the original animated version (or even the stage play) will recognize the iconic ballroom in all its faded glory as and stripped down rendition of “Tale as Old as Time” plays in the background.
Lumiere, played by Ewan McGregor, and Cogsworth, played by Sir Ian McKellen, can be heard but not seen as Belle, played by the delightful Emma Watson, enters Beast’s castle for the first time. The trailer ends with Belle approaching the enchanted rose and an invitation to “Be Our Guest” on March 17, 2017.
The 1:27 trailer doesn’t show off any of Gaston (Luke Evans), Lefou (Josh Gad), any supporting cast, or the Beast himself (Dan Stevens), but it still is enough to make me incredibly excited for any future trailers and the movie itself. Take a look at the trailer, direct from Disney, below!
